This cross-sectional research aimed to study the self-care behaviors related to hijamah among Muslims in the southern border provinces of Thailand. Methods: The informants consisted of 190 participants who received hijamah at the Faculty of Nursing project, Fatoni University, during 2022-2024, selected via convenience sampling. The questionnaire was validated by 3 experts. The mean item-objective congruence index (IOC) was 0.64, and reliability using Cronbach’s alpha was 0.71.
Results: The majority of participants were female (63.2%) age 18-29 years (37.8%). Most participants had a bachelor's degree (62.6%), had no underlying diseases (76.3%) and no prior experience in hijamah (55.3%). Among those experienced, most practiced it occasionally (more than 3 months apart) and primarily at home (90.6%). Most of them knew about hijamah through family recommendations (79.5%). They believed that hijamah promotes health (81.1%), provides early treatment (71.6%) and has minimal risk (42.1%). Key factors for choosing the university service included the therapist's medical knowledge (71.1%) and the cleanliness of equipment (68.9%). Conclusion: Hijamah practice is deeply rooted in religious beliefs and local culture. Future research should focus on developing standardized clinical guidelines to ensure patient safety and medical standards
