Abstract
This study was experimental research. The purposes of this research were to 1) study the effects of individual study program based on mastery learning on main idea reading skill of sixth grade students. 2) compare main idea reading skill of students being taught by using individual study program based on mastery learning and traditional method. The Samples were 2 classes of sixth grade student in academic year 2015 at Tantrarak School. These samples were divided into two groups; one was an experimental group and another was a comparative group. The research findings were summarized as follows:
1. The students studied from the individual study program based on mastery learning had the post-test mean scores on main idea reading skill higher than the pre-test mean scores at the .05 level of significance.
2. The students studied from the individual study program based on mastery learning had the post-test mean scores on main idea reading skill higher than group learning by using traditional method at the .05 level of significance
