BELIEFS OF VIETNAMESE-THAI IN NONGKHAI TOWARDS THAI TRADITIONS

Abstract

         This article aims to analyze the beliefs of Vietnamese-Thais in Nongkhai Province towards Thai traditions which Vietnamese immigrants settled in Nongkhai Province has brought in their own various cultures including lifestyle, food, belief dimension. They are not only believed in the Buddhism religion but also ghosts. These ghosts meant the ancestors in their own family. With house ghosts or guardian spirit are the ancestral ghost in their family or surname which Vietnamese give great importance to ancestor worship. Later, he absorbed the culture and traditions of the people of Nongkhai Province and was activated in the traditional Thai culture. Thus enabling Thai-Vietnamese descent to adhere to the Thai culture and traditions gently. The results showed that after the Vietnamese have immigrated to settle in Nongkhai Province, they also brought their own lifestyle, tradition and especially the beliefs that there would have been a shrine for worshiping the ancestors inside their house because they would pay more attention to worship their own ancestors. In the same time, the Vietnamese absorbed the Thai traditions and comply it as an important part of life by complying their old tradition simultaneously
