Guidelines for Public Services to Citizens in the Sai Mai District of Bangkok

Abstract

The Saimai District Office in Bangkok plays a crucial role in providing public services and improving the quality of life for residents. Its staff members serve as key drivers in ensuring the successful implementation of various initiatives. This research aims to: (1) examine the challenges of public service delivery in the Saimai district and (2) explore potential strategies for improving these services.This study employs a qualitative research approach, gathering data from 17 key informants divided into two groups: service recipients and service providers. In-depth interviews were conducted, and data were analyzed through synthesis, interpretation, and descriptive summarization.The findings reveal that (1) public service challenges in the Saimai district, particularly in transportation, include severe traffic congestion at multiple locations, especially during peak hours. The expansion of communities and the increasing number of vehicles have led to overcrowded roads, causing slow and inconvenient travel. Furthermore, the lack of connectivity between different transportation systems, such as buses and the BTS Skytrain, results in additional delays and inefficiencies. Some areas remain underserved by public transportation, making accessibility difficult. (2) Enhancing public services in transportation and water resource management should focus on convenience, cleanliness, and sustainability. Improvements in these areas will enhance residents' quality of life, addressing issues related to incomplete transportation systems and clean water shortages. In terms of transportation, development should begin with the expansion and improvement of public transport infrastructure, ensuring that Saimai residents have access to efficient, fast, and reliable transportation services.
