Problems of Traffic Control and Management of Suksamran Policestation in Ranong Province

Abstract

         The research paper has the following objectives : 1) to study the problem of traffic control and management of Suksamran Police Station, Ranong province 2) to provide suggestions for solving the traffic control and management problem of Suksamran Police Station, Ranong Province. This research is qualitative research. There are 17 key-informants underwent in-depth interviews. The research tools used were interview forms.

          The results of the research were as follows: 1) Problems arise in four aspects, the personality of the officer, the knowledge of the officer, traffic control and management environment, and traffic control and management of officials, which affect the success and satisfaction of the people. All 4 aspects caused by the personality of the officers that affect traffic operations, The division of labor does not match ability, many functions make the body weak, lack of knowledge for work such as basic first aid. Due to the forest area, maze, abundant rainfall, and lack of light, It is sometimes not able to choose the right place that can cause problems. And from the fact that the officers have many jobs that make them lack readiness. The signal transmission device is not clear, hand signals consistent with audio signals because of a lack of specialized knowledge.

          2) Suggestion: The problem that persists today arise from officers’ efficiency, task assignment to staff who do not have specific expertise, assigning multiple types of tasks lead to intermittent work, lack of proper tools to alert or prohibit, lack of environmental management to suit the conditions of the area, Lack of training for road users, law enforcement is not strict, and the relevant sectors don't act on the environment. Officers have not yet taken action in basic first aid to the sick. These problems affect public satisfaction and traffic safety. From the study of the problem, though the current traffic control and management can achieve the goals in the same way as the other 5 areas set by work of the Royal Thai Police's inspection agency, there are parts that can be modified to be more efficient. It is beneficial to people, government, and agencies, namely Suksamran Police Station, Ranong province, including officers. Indieaing what should be added, improved, changed, and developed to be complete. in the operation of traffic control and management, for example, increase training, organize a manual, divide the work appropriately, add equipment tools, make a sign or increase visibility. Local informants include people who use roads in the area local leaders, merchants, and traffic control and management operators to obtain comprehensive research results and gain much more insights.
