The Problems of Prisoner Visit Service at Ranong Provincial Prison

Abstract
This research article aimed to 1) study the problems of prisoner visit service at Ranong Provincial Prison, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province; and to 2) suggest the guidelines on prisoner visit service at Ranong Provincial Prison, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province. This is a qualitative research, using 17 key informants through an in-depth interview. The research instrument was an interview form.
The findings revealed as follows : 1) The problems of prisoner visit service at Ranong Provincial Prison included 3 aspects, include., (1) officers in charge,
(2) service procedures, and (3) the place and environment of service. For the problems of prisoner visit service at Ranong Provincial Prison in all 3 aspects, it was found as follows, The number of officers in charge was not sufficient. The system used was out-of-date, causing delay, and the building was old, with insufficient parking lots, Neither rest corner nor waiting area was provided for prisoners’ relatives. Besides, the visit room was unventilated at all. 2) For the guidelines on prisoner visit service at Ranong Provincial Prison in all 3 aspects, there should be more officers in charge who can communicate with prisoners’ relatives for their easy understanding and for shortened service procedures. The regular visit notification should be replaced with online ticket booking system in order to save time. The building for prisoner visit should be extended for ventilation, with sufficient parking lots for visitors.
