Guidelines for Management of Social Unrest Organized by the People

Abstract

        This research article aimed to: 1) study the problems of inmates’ quality of life at Ranong Prison, and 2) present the guidelines on the development of inmates’ quality of life at Ranong Prison.This is a qualitative research, with 17 key informants. An in-depth interview from were used as instrument.

         The results revealed as follows. 1) For the problems of inmates’ quality of life at Ranong Prison, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province, the physical problems affected inmates in term of limited space. For the psychological problems, it was found that inmates were worried about unsentenced cases. New inmates had difficulties of adaptation to the environment in the prison. For vocational trainings, it was found that there were no expert personnel to transfer knowledge. There were no modern technological devices. Training courses were not continuous. In conclusions of the 3 aspects, inmates had to stay in the crowded space. The inmates had difficulties of adaptation to the environment in the prison. There were no expert personnel for trainings. And there were no modern technological devices. 2) For the guidelines on the development of inmates’ quality of life at Ranong Prison in all 3 aspects, it was found that basic public utilities should be improved to meet the standard. Proper suitable with age range of inmates should be provided. Rectification and rehabilitation courses, along with activities should be provided so that inmates will be more assertive. Accessible consultants of all aspects should be invited. Vocational training courses should be updated to meet labor market needs. Vocational training courses should be updated continuously by requesting for coordination with other agencies to build buildings, equipment, and location
