The Roles of Local Administrative Organizations on the Elderly in Bang Non Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province

Abstract

         This research aimed to : 1) study the problems of the roles of local administrative organizations on the elderly in Bang Non Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province; and 2) provide suggestions of the roles of local administrative organizations on the elderly in Bang Non Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province, This is a qualitative research. There were 17 key- informants to whom an in–depth interview was conducted.

         The findings revealed 4 problems of the roles of local administrative organizations on the elderly in Bang Non Subdistrict, (1) public health: each group of the elderly had different needs, (2) activities: only a few of the elderly joined municipal activities due to COVID-19 outbreak, (3) received benefits: the elderly rarely cooperated on providing true information, for example, income-expenses, and (4) evaluation: there was no serious evaluation. For suggestions of the roles of local administrative organizations on the elderly in Bang Non Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province in those 4 aspects, there should be sufficient agencies to take care of the elderly, with more frequent visit. More physicians and nurses should be provided for Bang Non Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital all the time. Moreover, activities provided should divide the elderly into subgroups, with various and creative activities. PR and information should be frequently and inclusively provided. There should also be annual evaluation for better improvement.
