Factors Influencing Organizational Commitment of City Municipalities Officers in Eastern Region

Abstract
The objectives of this research are 1) to study the level of organizational engagement of personnel in the eastern municipality offices and 2) to examine the factors influencing the organizational engagement of personnel in the eastern municipality offices. The sample group were 400 personnel working in Laem Chabang City Municipality Office, Chao Phraya Surasak City Municipality Office and, Rayong City Municipality Office. The research instrument was a 4-level questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and proceeded by a statistics software package. Additionally, the structural validity of the causal relationship model was examined by using the LISREL program.
From the research results, it can be concluded that 1) level of the organizational engagement in the context of the confidence and acceptance of the organization's goals as well as the organizational engagement in the context of dedication to the success of the organization were rated at a high level. Conversely, the organizational engagement in the context of the commitment to remain as members of the organization was rated at a low level; 2) the causal relationship model is consistent with the empirical data. The relative Chi-square value is equivalent to 2.56. The Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) is equivalent to .96. The Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index (AGFI) is equivalent to .93. The Comparative Fit Index (CFI) is equivalent to .99. The Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) is equivalent to .06. According to the factors including organizational climate, quality of work life and satisfaction of working performance, they can demonstrate 78 % of the organizational engagement.
