Implementation of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainable Informal Debt Resolutions of Armed Forces Families, the 1st Army Area in Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

         The objectives of this study are: 1) to study the application of the sufficiency economy philosophy in solving the informal debt problem sustainably, 2) to analyze the key elements in the informal debt problems, and 3) to present a sustainable solution towards informal debt problems based on the principle of sufficiency economy of the military families in the 1st Army Area in Nonthaburi province. This is a qualitative research in which the data are collected from the key-informants including the 2 unit supervisors in the 1st Army Area in Nonthaburi province, 10 military officers, and another 10 family representatives in the said area. The research instrument includes an interview form. The data analysis is based on the inductive analytic interpretation.

         The results showed that: 1) the application of the sufficiency economy philosophy in solving the informal debt problem in a sustainable manner is based on the moderation way of living. This refers to the rationality, self-assessment, careful decision, and immunity in order to cope with changes that might occur. 2) The elements of informal debt problems include the reduction on consumerism, trends, social status, and friends such as meeting and social gatherings. 3) The sustainable approaches in solving the informal debt problems of the families dwelling in the 1st Army Area in Nonthaburi province are the appropriateness, rationality based on the necessity, budgeting, preparation and readiness for changes including various knowledge concerning lifestyle, morality, perseverance, and intelligence.
