A Study of Knowledge Management in Information Systems for Organizational Development of The Royal Thai Army College

The objectives of this study are: To study knowledge management in information systems to develop the organization of the Royal Thai Army College and to present guidelines for knowledge management in information systems to develop the organization of the Royal Thai Army College. It is a qualitative research. Information are collected from key-informants by purposive sampling including head of department and the supervisors together with another 6 operators at the total number of 18 people. The data are analyzed by an inductive method (Analytic Induction).
The results of the study found that: 1) knowledge management in information systems to develop the organization of the Royal Thai Army College, the knowledge is sought from sources with a variety of information necessary to operate with modern tools. Knowledge creation is undertaken by applying knowledge, concepts, theories, and experiences as a conceptual framework for working in order to create new operational guidelines. There are systematic storage of knowledge, data management, planning, data retrieval, and document management by using E-mail. The creation of a web communication for organizations and students and the creation of a web agency called “Circulation system” to store information. Knowledge exchange includes knowledge management in information systems. A process is created to build a good relationship with each other, causing knowledge understanding between operators with a constant staff training. The application of knowledge by using the information system as a tool. Knowledge exchange and attitude interaction towards working are accomplished by managing the knowledge of internal information systems in the organization to improve and to be used in work operations. The follow-up and evaluation of knowledge management monitoring information system and progress of the organization by having a computer program, modern copier equipment, and equipment within the organization are constantly inspected and updated for convenience and speed of operation.
2) Guidelines for knowledge management in information systems to develop the organization of the Royal Thai Army College, it was found that it should promote learning about information, gathering the knowledge that exists in the organization to develop into a system so that everyone in the organization can have an access. Having modern computer equipment and developmental plan. Knowledge is exchanged both online and in the classroom. There must be a development for people, technology and systematic knowledge processes. This is to allow personnel in the organization to access knowledge and develop themselves, to make work in the organization much efficient, and to develop the organization to keep up with the changes.
