ภาพสะท้อนของสัตว์ประหลาดที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงูในเทพปกรณัมกรีก: กรณีศึกษาทฤษฎีอาร์คีไทพ์

บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงเอกสาร มีวัตถุประสงค์ 2 ประการคือ 1) ศึกษารวบรวมสัตว์ประหลาดในเทพปกรณัมกรีกที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงู 2) ศึกษาภาพสะท้อนด้านรูปลักษณ์และบทบาทของสัตว์ประหลาดในเทพปกรณัมกรีกที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงู ทฤษฎีที่ใช้ในการศึกษาคือทฤษฎีอาร์คีไทพ์ของคาร์ล จี. ยุง ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีสัตว์ประหลาดที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงู 21 รายการ มีทั้งสัตว์ประหลาดที่รูปลักษณ์เป็นงูทั้งตัวแต่เป็นงูขนาดใหญ่และสัตว์ประหลาดที่มีลักษณะการรวมกันของสิ่งมีชีวิตมากกว่าหนึ่งประเภท ในด้านบทบาทนั้นสัตว์ประหลาดที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงูมีบทบาท 5 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) ผู้รับใช้ 2) ผู้ให้กำเนิด 3) ผู้ถูกกระทำ 4) เครื่องมือกำจัดศัตรู และ 5) ผู้ลงโทษ นอกจากนั้นเมื่อพิจารณาในแง่สัญลักษณ์ยังพบว่าสัตว์ประหลาดที่มีรูปลักษณ์แบบงูแสดงความหมายเชิงสัญลักษณ์หลายประการ เช่น ความแข็งแกร่ง ความตาย การฟื้นคืนชีพ การให้กำเนิด การหลอกลวง เป็นต้น ผลของการศึกษาสามารถนำไปใช้ในเชิงพาณิชย์ในการสร้างแรงบันดาลใจในการออกแบบตัวละคร เรื่องราวเบื้องหลังหรือโครงเรื่องในเกมออนไลน์ ภาพยนตร์หรือนวนิยายแนวแฟนตาซีได้
