Community Participatory Research to Design Cycle Routes for Cultural Tourism in Thonburi, Klongsan and Bangkokyai District, Bangkok

Abstract

The study explores the prospect of designing cycle routes to promote cultural tourism in the district of Thonburi, Klongsan, and Bangkokyai.  It has participated with                  30 cyclists residing in the community. The cyclists were interviewed based on the diversity, sophistication, and complexity of the tourist attractions, and the number of tourists visiting the district of Thonburi, Klongsan, and Bangkokyai. The spatial data resulted were ‘very good’ which could be interpreted that the cycle lanes are safe and an efficient means to cultural tourism. The recommendation of the study is directed to the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Tourism. The Ministry of Transportation to strengthen the cycle infrastructure in the city, to provide safety policies for the local and international cyclists.  The Ministry of Tourism to promote cycling routes for cultural tourism, evidently cycling around Bangkok will help eradicate pollution in the city.
