Analysis of Sinsai literature to determine the concept of dance performance creation

Abstract

The work was a qualitative research. It aimed to determine the concept in creating
the dance performance work by analyzing the literary work ‘Sinsai’. Data in the present work
were studied from relevant documents and research works, interviews and observation. Data obtained were presented by a descriptive method. The research found that ‘Sinsai’ was the
valuable work worth being preserved and transmitted on in the form of the performance
art. The concepts found in the work under study were the following. 1) Love: it is the love
between men-women, younger-older brothers or sisters, mother-children. 2) Gratitude, 3)
jealousy, 4) Characters, 5) Episodes. The concepts were applied in the following: conceptual
framework, recruiting performers, dancing steps, musical accompaniment, costume design
and dressing, performance patterns and spatial use, and performance equipment.
