People Participation in Forest Resource Conservation Ban Lek Nai Pa Yai, The Royal Initiated Project, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine socio-economic characteristics, knowledge and understanding about forest resource conservation, levels of people participation and factors affecting people participation in forest resource conservation Ban Lek Nai Pa Yai, The Royal Initiated Project, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Data gathered by using the designed questionnaires interviewed household heads or their representatives of 113 respondents. Statistical analysis methods employing for the hypothesis test were t-test and F-test with given significant level at 0.05 (p-value=0.05)

            The results of this study found that the respondents were female had 79 persons at the most with their average ages 48.54 years. The ethnicity of the most was Lahu and  no formal education. The average number of household member was 5.02 persons and average numbers of household labor was 2.22 persons. An average household settlement period was 19.63 years. Most of the respondent was social group member being, received information about forest resource conservation and had training course. An average total household income was 88,901.79 baht per years. Agriculture were their main (horticulture and ricefield) and minor (agriculture raising animal) occupations. An average size of land holding was 4.20 rais. They had knowledge and understanding about forest resource conservation at the high level. People participation in forest resource conservation at the high level with an average score of 3.53. Factors affecting people participation in this project were social group member being, received information about forest resource conservation, training course, Total household income (significant between 50,001-100,000 baht/years and 10,000-50,000 baht/years, more than 100,000 baht/years, respectively), size of land holding (significant between 0-1 rais and 2-3,4-5 rais, respectively) and the knowledge and understanding about forest resource conservation (significant between the score low of 2-4 and the score medium of 5-7, the score high of 8-10, respectively)
