Development Of A Music Culture Learning Set, Thai Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province For First Year Music Education Students, Nakhon Phanom University

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a music culture learning package for the first-year students majoring in Music Education at Nakhon Phanom University. The study was conducted by using the qualitative research methodology. It aimed: (1) to study the musical culture of That Phanom District, (2) to develop a music culture learning package based on local traditions, (3) to examine the learning outcomes after the use of the learning package, and (4) to assess student satisfaction. The research was carried out from October 2024 to January 2025. Data were collected through the interviews, observations, and the implementation of the developed learning set. The findings showed that the musical culture of That Phanom District had the following attributes: (1) musical characteristics including ensembles, instruments, tonal systems, and repertoires; and (2) cultural contexts related to music, such as ethnic groups, languages, residential areas, rituals, and belief systems.

            The effectiveness of the developed learning package was measured at 80.42/89.16, which exceeded the standard criterion of 80/80. Learning achievement scores after using the set showed significant improvement. The pre-test mean score was 58.83% (SD = 0.79), indicating a fair level of competency. Post-test results demonstrated a mean score of 89.16% (SD = 0.67), reflecting a high level of learning achievement. Additionally, the students’ satisfaction was at a high level (Mean = 4.16).
