The Collaboration Development of UBRU Students’ Communicative Skills for Creating Learning Innovation in Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Local Wisdom in Ubon Ratchathani Province of UBRU

Abstract

This research aims to 1) develop English communicative  skills of students related to tourism, arts and culture, and local wisdom of Ubon Ratchathani province; 2) enhance students' abilities to use digital innovations in presenting information in English about tourism, arts and culture, and local wisdom of Ubon Ratchathani province; 3) disseminate knowledge through integrated learning innovations concerning tourism, arts and culture, and local wisdom of Ubon Ratchathani province in English, specifically for third-year English major students in the Bachelor of Arts in English program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, in the subject “Reading English for Lifelong Learning.”

              The sample group consisted of 50 students from the English major program. The research instruments included active learning instruction and focus group discussions. Data collection methods involved participant observation and assessments based on innovations or video content.

              The research findings revealed that the communicative skills and the digital skills of the students under study increased from a pre-test significantly at the 0.05 level. However, there were still multiple factors that needed further development to enhance students’ English communication skills, and video content creation to be able for public dissemination, especially tourism-related information in English. Therefore, this study was mainly an initial study to explore the overall context. Further development is required. Additionally, the students’ awareness of cultural differences significantly affects the creation of English innovations targeted at international tourists.
