Needs for Elderly Welfare Provision of Hanpho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Khaochaison District, Phatthalung Province

Abstract

                The objectives of this research were 1) to study the level of needs for elderly welfare provision of Tambon Hanpho Administrative Organization and 2) to compare the level of needs for elderly welfare provision of Hanpho Administrative Organization. The work was a quantitative research, classified by personal factors. The sample consisted of 330 elderly residents in the area. A five-point Likert scale questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of .94 was employed. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).

  The findings revealed that 1) overall, the level of needs for elderly welfare provision was at a high level. Considering individual aspects, the highest need was in health services, followed by general social services, employment and income, housing, recreation, the justice system, and education, respectively. 2) The comparison of needs for elderly welfare provision classified by personal factors showed that differences in gender, age, educational level, occupation, and income had statistically significant differences in their needs at the .01 and .001 levels. However, elderly people with different marital status showed no significant differences in their needs for elderly welfare provision. Hanpho Administrative Organization can utilize these findings to develop or improve local development plans, particularly regarding social welfare plans, to effectively address the actual needs of the elderly residents.
