The main objective of this study was to investigate the performing arts business in Lao People’s Democratic Republic in order to devise appropriate to promote sales of and investment in performing arts there so that they could enhance the images of the products and organizations; as a result, their performances including those staged during the traditional merit-marking festivals were profitable. The findings revealed that there were some changes in performing arts that have been observed and practiced as part of Laos’ cultures, in the socio-economic condition in Vientiane because of the influence of foreign cultures and being accepted as an Asian member. The performing arts have been improved; however, such improvement are not against Lao people’s moral and cultural perceptions. The Lao performing arts can be categorized as folk dances, tribal dances, royal court dances and creative dances based on Lao culture. The inclusion of foreign performances played a role in sale promotion campaigns, thus generating more income and more job opportunities. These findings can benefit those who would like to further study the performing arts business in Laos.
