ข้อเสนอในการถ่ายถอดเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาพม่าด้วยเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาไทย: การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบทางกลสัทศาสตร์

บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสนอการถ่ายถอดเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาพม่าด้วยเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาไทย ข้อเสนอดังกล่าวเป็นผลมาจากการเปรียบเทียบรูปลักษณ์ของวรรณยุกต์ในภาษาพม่าและภาษาไทยด้วยวิธีทาง

ผลการวิจัยพบว่าเสียงวรรณยุกต์สูงในภาษาพม่ามีรูปลักษณ์วรรณยุกต์ใกล้เคียงกับเสียงวรรณยุกต์สามัญในภาษาไทย เสียงวรรณยุกต์ต่ำในภาษาพม่ามีรูปลักษณ์วรรณยุกต์ใกล้เคียงกับเสียงวรรณยุกต์เอกในภาษาไทย เสียงวรรณยุกต์ก้องเครียดและเสียงวรรณยุกต์กักในภาษาพม่ามีรูปลักษณ์วรรณยุกต์ใกล้เคียงกับวรรณยุกต์โทที่เป็นพยางค์ตายเสียงสั้นในภาษาไทย ดังนั้นจึงมีข้อเสนอในการถ่ายถอดเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาพม่าด้วยเสียงวรรณยุกต์ภาษาไทยดังนี้ เสียงวรรณยุกต์สูงในภาษาพม่าถ่ายถอดเป็นเสียงวรรณยุกต์สามัญในภาษาไทย เสียงวรรณยุกต์ต่ำในภาษาพม่าถ่ายถอดเป็นเสียงวรรณยุกต์เอกในภาษาไทย เสียงวรรณยุกต์ก้องเครียดและเสียงวรรณยุกต์กักในภาษาพม่าถ่ายถอดเป็นเสียงวรรณยุกต์โทที่เป็นพยางค์ตายเสียงสั้นในภาษาไทย

Abstract
The objective of this study is to offer the guidance on the transcription from Burmese tones to Thai tones by the comparison of the tone shape through the use of acoustic phonetic approach.
The results show that the high tone in Burmese has the tone shape, which is closest to the mid tone in Thai. The low tone in Burmese, however, has the tone shape, which is closest to the low tone in Thai. The creaky and killed tones in Burmese have the tone shapes, which are closest to the high-falling tone in the case of dead short syllable in Thai. Tonal transcription of Burmese language would therefore provide the sound basis for Thai transcription. Following the results, we propose the high tone in Burmese transcribed to the mid tone in Thai, the low tone in Burmese transcribed to the low tone in Thai, and the creaky and killed tones in Burmese transcribed to the high-falling tone in the case of dead short syllable in Thai.
