Abstract
Through an analysis of the language presented ethical thought on the war in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature, the objectives of this study were to explore the form and level of language employed in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature and to explore the philosophical thought and language presented ethical thought on the war as used in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature through the translated version of Saeng Monwitoon and Chamnong Thongprasert. Conceptual framework of this study consists of (1) use of the forms of language presented thought in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature and (2) use of language level and its relation to thought in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature. Qualitative method was employed, and data included 18 chapters. The findings revealed that there were uses of six forms of language employed in Bhagavadgitā, a Sanskrit literature namely; question and answer, narration, description, instruction, comparison and exposition. Language presented thought can be divided into two kinds namely; Man language and Dhamma language. In Bhagavadgitā, there are two kinds of philosophical thoughts; concrete philosophical thought and abstract philosophical thought. Moreover, ethical thought on the war was found totally 13 items as used in Bhagavadgitā.
