Guideline for The Tourism Systems Development of Ban Nam Chieo, Trat Province

Abstract

Abstract

          The purposes of this study were: 1) to study the tourism system, 2) to study and analyze the internal and external environment of the tourism system, and 3) to propose guidelines for tourism system development in Nam Chiew Community, Trat province. The study was qualitative research; the data were collected through in-depth interviews by using a semi-structured interview consisting of 18 government officials, entrepreneurs, and the community and using content analysis methods. The findings indicated that 1) a study of the tourism system of Nam Chiew Community, Trat province was found that the needs of the tourist market in Nam Chiao Community had a community with a lifestyle which are two religions and three cultures with outstanding of identity. The target tourists were interested in lifestyle in the community. The demand side of tourism, tourist resources, tourism activities, and facilities with services, shall be planned in systematic management based on the community’s lifestyle. The tourism marketing was publicity from tourists who like to share their travel experiences through online media. 2) The internal and external environment of the tourism system was found that Nam Chiew Community was a community of unique cultural lifestyle. The travel was found that there were many ways to travel to the area. The tourism marketing was found that the tourist loves to share their travel experiences online. The destination was found that Nam Chiew Community had tourism resources in nature, culture, art, lifestyle, festivals, and traditions. 3) Tourism system development guidelines, in Nam Chiew Community, Trat province was found that the stakeholders may apply to study the needs of tourists. The transportation system and infrastructures should be developed by the government sector. In this case, it may cooperate to manage tourism sites within the degraded community and to improve the surrounding landscape of tourist attractions.
