Self-reliance Concept of Country People: Demeaning the Rural to a Dichotomous of Urban

บทคัดย่อ

ชนบทไทย คือพื้นที่เต็มไปด้วยความอุดมสมบูรณ์ สวยงามของทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ ผู้คนมีจิตใจเอื้อเฟื้อแบ่งปัน เป็นความหมายที่สังคมไทยกำหนดนิยามชนบทให้มีลักษณะตรงข้ามกับเมือง  ไม่เพียงแต่ในโลกทางสังคมเท่านั้น แต่โลกทางวิชาการก็มีพื้นฐานความคิดดังกล่าวแฝงอยู่ในแนวคิด ทฤษฎีว่าด้วยการศึกษาการพัฒนาด้วย บทความนี้ต้องการแสดงให้เห็นถึงมโนทัศน์ การพึ่งตนเอง ซึ่งถูกนำมาใช้ในแนวคิด ทฤษฎีการพัฒนาชนบทในประเทศไทย ได้ลดทอน บิดเบือนความหมายที่ซับซ้อนของชนบทลง  โดยผลิตสร้างความหมายที่มีลักษณะส่งเสริมให้เกิดการกดทับ และสร้างความแตกต่างไม่เท่าเทียมด้านการพัฒนา ซึ่งหยั่งรากลึกเป็นวัฒนธรรมที่ฝังแน่นผลิตซ้ำการมองสังคมชนบทว่าคนชนบทที่ขาดการพัฒนาคือคนชนบทผู้เห็นแก่เงิน ฟุ้งเฟ้อ ฟุ่มเฟือย และไม่รู้จักพอ  ชนบทในความหมายที่เป็นต้องเป็นขั้วตรงข้ามกับเมืองนี้อยู่ภายใต้กฎเกณฑ์ของการผลิตสร้างความหมายใน 3 ประการได้แก่  1) ชนบทเป็นพื้นที่บริสุทธิ์ตัดขาดจากโลกภายนอก 2) ผู้คนในชนบทใสซื่อ ไม่ประสาทางการเมือง และไม่มีการเมืองในพื้นที่ชนบท 3) ความทันสมัย การเปลี่ยนแปลงตามโลกตะวันตกคือความเลวร้าย ทั้ง 3 ประการ ทำให้ความหมายของชนบทถูกตรึงติดอยู่กับการเป็นขั้วตรงข้ามของเมือง

Abstract

Thai rural is space of plentiful resources where people have generous heart. This meaning is in Thai people’ imaging to rural, not only social world but also assumption in academic community of development studies. This article draw on Self-reliance concept to be of use to rural development perspectives. It has attenuated complex meaning of people living in rural communities. The constructing make meaning to depression and social inequality into a deep-rooted of Thai culture which has prescribed characteristics of rural people who lack of development as extravagant and greed. Rural area in this meaning are opposition of urban under the rule of the construction in three aspects: 1) virgin place, cut off from the outside world 2) innocent of rural people, no politics in rural areas 3) evils of western modernization. The three features to produce the rural meaning is labeled as dichotomous of the urban.                 Key words:  self-reliance, rural development, community cultures, sufficiency economy
