บทความนี้ต้องการนำเสนอความเลื่อนไหลของอัตลักษณ์ทางชาติพันธุ์ของคนมลายูปาตานีในจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ที่ข้ามเส้นเขตแดนรัฐชาติไทยเข้าไปทำงานในมาเลเซีย ซึ่งเป็นการนำเสนอแนวคิดความเป็นพลวัตของอัตลักษณ์ที่ไม่ใช่สิ่งที่แน่นอน ตายตัว แต่เป็นกระบวนการผลิต และสร้างให้สอดคล้องกับบริบททางสังคม วัฒนธรรม และเวลาที่กลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ดำเนินชีวิตอยู่ การดำเนินชีวิตของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ภายในแผ่นดินไทยซึ่งมีการธำรงรักษาความเป็นมลายู เพื่อแสดงความแตกต่างจากกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์อื่นในแผ่นดินไทย แต่เมื่อพวกเขาข้ามเส้นเขตแดนรัฐชาติไทย เข้าไปดำเนินชีวิตในรัฐชาติมาเลเซีย พวกเขาก็ทำการผลิต และสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของตนเองขึ้นใหม่กับบริบททางสังคมที่ต่างจากเดิมที่มีความรู้สึกและสำนึกความต่างจากคนมลายูในแผ่นดินมาเลเซีย ความเป็นไทยจึงถูกนำมาแสดงออกเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของอัตลักษณ์ทางชาติพันธุ์ของมลายูที่มาจากแผ่นดินไทย

Abstract

This paper would like to present that fluidity of social identities among Nayu (Malay) ethnicity people in the border southern Thailand who crossed border Thailand-Malaysia to work in Tom Yum restaurants in Malaysia. To present the notion of dynamic of identity that there is no fix but it can be produced and created within social and cultural contexts including time on way of life among ethnicity or minority groups in Thailand. When Nayu people are in Thailand, they have maintained their own identity of Malay-ness including Muslim-ness through their language, customs, tradition and religion like Malay ethnic in the northern states of Malaysia which attempts to differentiate their own identity from that of Thai Muslims and Thai Buddhists in Thai society. However, Nayu ethnicity people cross border to workers in Tom Yum restaurants in which are Thai Halal food business and sell Thai national identity to be Nayu migrant workers, Malaysia. They created and used a new identity within a new society which attempts to differentiate their own identity from that of Malaysia Malay Muslims in Malay society. Thai-ness is used and presented to be a part of Nayu migrant’s identities through Tom Yum restaurants and Thai cultural consumptions.
