บทคัดย่อ

This research aimed to 1) analyze the needs and cultural tourism behaviors of the elderly in Nonthaburi Province and 2) design a logistics system suitable for supporting cultural tourism for the elderly. The study was conducted within the context of Nonthaburi Province, which is rich in cultural heritage such as Thai–Mon communities, ancient temples, and traditional handicrafts. These cultural assets exist amid Thailand’s transition into an aging society and persistent challenges in public transportation systems and accessibility infrastructure. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from questionnaires with qualitative data from in-depth interviews. The samples consisted of 400 elderly tourists, 100 local community members, and 20 tourism entrepreneurs. The findings revealed that most elderly tourists were female, aged between 60–65 years, and were mainly motivated to travel through family and friends’ recommendations (35.5%) and the desire for relaxation (33.75%). Social media was the primary source of travel information (74%), reflecting the significant role of digital technology in influencing travel behavior among the elderly. Based on the findings, a logistics system for cultural tourism among the elderly was designed, encompassing three key dimensions: (1) Physical logistics including transportation, accessibility, and appropriate facilities; (2) Information logistics involving multilingual information, signage, and service maps; and (3) Financial logistics featuring safe and user-friendly payment systems. Additionally, three one-day cultural tourism programs and a bilingual web application prototype were developed to enhance practical usability for elderly travelers in the area. The results of this study can serve as a guideline for policymakers, local authorities, and private sectors to improve tourism logistics systems that accommodate an aging society, enhance efficiency and safety, and promote sustainable cultural tourism experiences in Nonthaburi Province.
