A Study on Problems and Solution of Guidelines on Guidance Administration in School Bangkok Metropolis

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the problems of guidance administration in schools under Bangkok Metropolis, to explore the suitability and possibility of the solution guidelines, and to investigate the effectiveness of the guidelines in guidance administration. The instruments of the study consisted of a questionnaire surveying problems on guidance administration in 5 services offering in schools under Bangkok Metropolis: data collection of individual students, data information, student guidance, student placement, and follow-up and appraisal.  The questionnaire was also used to explore the opinion of the sample groups in regard to the effectiveness of the solution guidelines of guidance administration. The first sample group of the study consisted of 204 people including both administrators and teachers who were responsible for giving guidance in schools under Bangkok Metropolis. The second sample group comprised 12 experts participating in focus group discussion. The third sample group consisted of 125 administrators or teachers in the school cluster No. 52.  Statistics used for data analysis were average, standard deviation, and content analysis. Results of the study showed the following: 1) Problems on guidance administration in schools under Bangkok Metropolis were at a high level ( gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X}= 3.53, S.D.= 1.12), with data collection of individual students service rating the highest (gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X} = 3.74, S.D. =1.12), while data information service rating the lowest (gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X} = 3.26, S.D.=1.22). 2) The suitability and possibility of the solution guidelines are positive and feasible. 3) The achievement of the solution guidelines on guidance administration in schools under Bangkok Metropolis was at a high level (gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X}= 4.38, S.D. = 0.65).  The service of follow-up and appraisal rated the highest (gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X} =4.53, S.D. = 0.62) while data collection of individual students rated the lowest (gif.latex?\small&space;\frac{}{X} =4.14, S.D. =0.71).
