The development of Thai etiquette behavior of foreign kindergarten teachers through Thai etiquette training, Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, Bangkok

Abstract

This research aims to 1) compare Thai etiquette behaviors of foreign kindergarten teachers at Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, Bangkok, before and after participating in Thai etiquette training, and 2) assess the satisfaction levels of foreign kindergarten teachers with Thai etiquette training at Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, and Bangkok. The population in this research consisted of 5 foreign kindergarten teachers at Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, Bangkok, in the academic year 2023. The experiment was conducted over 8 sessions of 3 hours each, from Monday to Thursday, between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. over a two-week period. The research instruments were 1) 8 Thai etiquette training plans, 2) the Thai etiquette behavior observation form, and 3) the satisfaction assessment form of Thai etiquette training for the foreign kindergarten teachers. The statistics used in this research were mean and standard deviation.

The research results showed that 1) Thai etiquette behaviors of foreign kindergarten teachers at Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, Bangkok, after the Thai etiquette training were higher than before, which was in accordance with the hypotheses, before the Thai etiquette training the mean = 24.20 and the standard deviation = 12.76 and after the Thai etiquette training. The mean = 73.00 and the standard deviation = 0.00 and 2) Foreign kindergarten teachers' satisfaction with the Thai etiquette training at Prep International Kindergarten School, Sutthisarn Campus, Bangkok, was at the highest level which was in accordance with the hypotheses which was at the high or the highest level, with the mean = 4.90 and the standard deviation = 0.07. When considering each aspect, it was found that every aspect was at the highest level of satisfaction. In particular the field of science services provided by project staff and the areas of understanding and applying knowledge had the same highest averages, the mean = 5.00 and the standard deviation = 0.00. The averages for the location, duration, food was the lowest, with the mean = 4.55 and the standard deviation = 0.33
