AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF ANGELS TOWARDS PEOPLE IN MUANG DISTRICT, NONG KHAI PROVINCE

Abstract

         The purposes of this research are: 1) to study the divines’ existence and morality in Buddhism 2) to study the belief in the angles towards people in Maung District, Nongkhai Province and 3) to analyze the divines’ morality towards people in Maung District, Nongkhai Province. This research is the qualitative research by using the in-depth interview. The results of the research are found that:

         The divines’ existence and morality in Buddhism are the creatures in the divines’ world in the six heavens of sphere called the six heavens of sense-sphere meaning the realm in attachment to the circle of defilements consisting of decease, birth and death. In the Buddhist scripture, they can be divided into three groups, that is, the conventional divines, occurred divines and pure divines. The divines’ occurrence results from the accumulated merits and having the virtue, that is, moral shame, moral dread. If the life span is end, the decease will be ended in the same from the heavens. The belief in the divines towards people in Maung District, Nongkhai Province inherits from the ancient people and the consciousness. It results in the faith in Phraya Nagga, Choawmae Songnang, ghosts, wood nymph and divine in agreeable to the ancient cult and Hinduism such as the influence on the literature and various arts in Nongkhai Province that are accumulated in the past to the present periods. The analysis of the divines’ morality towards people in Maung District, Nongkhai Province is found that the formats of the rituals have the special entity and traditional value that is associated with Buddhism in every activity in the new offspring in doing good and avoiding an evil that are the faith forces to reach the Buddhist teaching as concrete object.
