Abstract

For this study, the researcher studied the beautiful Chakri patterns and color schemes of Benjarong porcelain. The objectives of this research were to 1. design and develop fabric patterns and women’s clothing inspired by these patterns and 2. to study people’s satisfaction with clothes featuring such designs. The data were collected via an online survey of 100 target users including working women in the private and government sectors in Bangkok. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and the chi-square test. The researcher took inspiration from the designs, textures, and color schemes of Chakri patterns in creating  patterns and printing techniques on woven fabric. The color and fashion trends were applied to design clothes that would appeal to the women who were surveyed. Four of the 12 designs with digital prototype development with a 3D patterning were selected by three experts with at least five years of design experience. The samples were very satisfied with the proposed designs. Four of the five surveyed respondents indicated a purchase intention when considering the suitable for daily life usage. They also indicated that such items such cost less than 1000 baht online. All the people we asked had basically the same sense of satisfaction, except regarding Design 4. The definitely-would-not-buy group gave that design a score of p < 0.001. The chi-square test results indicated that these individuals’ intention to buy is directly related to the prices (p < 0.05).
