Aesthetic analysis and local lanna content in Bua Luang paintings

Abstract

          Aesthetic Analysis and Local Lanna Content in Bua Luang Paintings is a qualitative research method that focuses on education, collecting, and analyzing visual arts (painting) with local Lanna content in the Bua Luang painting contest in order to obtain concrete aesthetic value. In this analysis, the researcher applied the principles of the analytical theory of Gene A. Mitler and Emeritus Professor Kamjorn Sunpongsri's theory of visual arts as a guideline for analyzing works in visual arts (painting). The results showed that the works of 19 artists during the 1st to the 4th decade (1974 – 2020) presents the local Lanna concepts related to Buddhism, doing good deeds, meditation, the way of life of the Lanna people, traditions, weaving, beliefs, Lanna murals interior architecture, Lanna architecture, doing merits, agricultural occupation, unity, faith, Lanna folk tales, tattooing, central region murals and Lanna murals, lullabies, Himmapan beasts according to Lanna traditions, Buddhist histories, and Lanna murals mixed with universal tales. As for the study of the aesthetics of visual elements, it is analyzed concretely that balance, rhythm, direction, harmony, emphasis, proportion, and beauty that mentioned above can be perceived through visual elements of lines, shapes and forms, weights, colors, textures, and spaces presented from the artist's techniques of tempera paint, acrylic paint, gold leaf and mixed techniques, and then published the content of the analysis results in the form of academic documents to teachers, students, and those who are interested.
