Abstract

The engagement of India in the Mekong sub-region, under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation (MGCs), aims at developing and leveraging inter-regional tourism. This combination between tourism and international relations could be regarded as the process of Glocalsation. Thus, this paper focuses on studying the Glocalised Tourism in the Mekong Ganga Cooperation. It uses a documentary research with a systematic review of related documents during 2000-2021. The paper found that there are five significant programs on tourism cooperation. First, institutionalization of tourism. Second, promotion of tourism awareness. Third, encouraging Buddhist tourism. Forth, supporting studies in tourism. Last, physical connectivity for tourism. These five programs are a result of Glocalisation as all MGC’s members have integrated localisation with globalisation by compromising, customising and connecting among them. This glocalisation leads to the changes in economic, political and social spheres.
