The Development of The Brass Instruments Tutorial Handbook for Secondary School Students in Thailand

Abstract

            This research is part of qualitative research. The objective of the study is to
1) develop a brass instrument handbook for secondary students in Thailand
2) evaluate the brass instrument handbook for secondary students in Thailand and
3) analyze the evaluation result of the brass instrument handbook for secondary students in Thailand.

            The research has discovered that 1) the development of the Brass Instrument Handbook for Secondary Students in Thailand contains six sections:
1. groups and types of brass instruments, 2. fingering system and transposition, 3. air control, postures, and embouchure, 4. fundamental etudes for developing the sound concept, 5. etudes for brass techniques, and 6. scales 2) The Brass Instrument Handbook for Secondary Students in Thailand has been set with three evaluation criteria: 1. suitability of the book design, 2. suitability of contents and illustrations, and 3. suitability of comprehensive usage. 3) The analysis of a quality evaluation results of Brass instruments manuals for the secondary school student in Thailand founds that the book format is the highest quality (= 4.95, S.D.= 0.22), the content and illustration are the highest quality (= 4.90, S.D.= 0.24) and the utilisation is the highest quality (= 5, S.D.= 0). Overall, all 3 aspects have the highest quality level (= 4.95, S.D.= 0.22). Therefore, it can be considered that the Brass instruments manuals for the secondary school student in Thailand, it has the quality which meets the criteria are requirements for the research.
