Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Authors must submit their articles into the system for preliminary consideration by the journal's editorial board. Once the editorial board has reviewed and determined that the article complies with the journal's regulations, they will notify the author to make payment for publication within 10 days after the editorial board's notification.
    Authors must pay the publication fee of 6,000 baht by transferring to:

Guidelines for Article Review and Submission for Publication

in the Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies, Center for Politics, Society, and Area Studies

The Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies is an academic journal that publishes scholarly articles and book reviews from faculty members, academics, researchers, and students both domestically and internationally, providing opportunities to present academic work for dissemination and exchange of knowledge, particularly new bodies of knowledge in the fields of Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Sciences, Politics and Governance, and Asian Studies within the framework of Area Studies.

Academic works accepted for publication may be in the following formats: research articles, review articles, academic abstracts, and book reviews, among others. Manuscripts submitted for publication consideration must not have been previously published in any journal or publication (with the exception of research reports and theses/dissertations) and must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal. The work must not be plagiarized or excerpted from others' research. There must be no copying or misleading representation of the work or study findings. Articles accepted for publication must undergo peer review by qualified experts in the relevant field and receive approval from the editorial board.

2. Article Writing Format

2.1 Title: The article title should be centered on the page, in both Thai and English. An asterisk (*) should be placed after the title with a footnote indicating the purpose for which the article was written, in both Thai and English.

2.2 Author: The author's name should be provided in both Thai and English, without titles or honorifics, aligned to the right. A double asterisk (**) should be placed with a footnote identifying who the author is, their academic position (if applicable), and institutional affiliation for all authors. (In the case of multiple authors, please list all of them.)

2.3 Abstract: In both Thai and English (not exceeding 250 words).

2.4 Keywords: In both Thai and English.

3. Manuscript Preparation

  1. Specify the author's name, rank or position, contact address or workplace, along with telephone number, email, and fax number.
  2. Submit 3 copies of the manuscript along with 1 data storage disc (CD).
  3. Type using Microsoft Word for Windows.
  4. Use TH SarabunPSK font, size 16, on A4 paper, single-sided printing only.
  5. Use single line spacing. The article length should be no fewer than 15 pages but no more than 20 pages, including references.
  6. Use the APA (American Psychological Association) referencing system.
  7. Page setup:
    • Top margin: 1 inch or 2.54 cm
    • Bottom margin: 1 inch or 2.54 cm
    • Left margin: 1.5 inches or 3.18 cm
    • Right margin: 1 inch or 2.54 cm

4. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts can be submitted through the following channels:

  1. Submit 3 copies of the manuscript along with 1 CD to the Editorial Board of the Journal, Center for Politics, Society, and Area Studies, Faculty of Political Science, Ramkhamhaeng University, Ramkhamhaeng Road, Hua Mak, Bang Kapi, Bangkok 10240. Telephone: 02-310-8497.
  2. Submit via email to eascram@gmail.com with the email subject line: "Article Submission: Title.........."
  3. Submit online by completing the application form and submitting the manuscript at http://www.easc.ru.ac.th/2018/index.php/journal

5. Citations and References

When the author needs to indicate the source of information within the text: (1) Use the author-date in-text citation method by specifying the author's name and publication year before or after the cited passage to indicate the source, and page numbers may also be included if desired. (2) Include end-of-document reference citations by compiling all references used by the author in writing the work, arranged alphabetically by author's surname, under the heading "เอกสารอ้างอิง" (References) for Thai-language works or "References" for English-language works, using the APA (American Psychological Association) referencing format. For Thai-language reference entries, an English translation must be appended after the original Thai entry. Examples of reference formatting are as follows:

6. Publication Fee Payment

Authors must submit their article through the system for preliminary review by the journal's editorial board. Once the editorial board has reviewed the article and determined that it meets the journal's requirements, the author will be notified to proceed with payment of the publication fee within 10 days of notification.

The publication fee is 6,000 Baht, to be transferred via:

Upon successful transfer, the author must attach proof of payment through the communication channel within the system so that the editorial board can proceed with appointing peer reviewers for the article.
