Abstract

This research article aims to develop the Master of Arts Program in Political Science (Revised Curriculum B.E. 2570 [2027]) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kasetsart University by examining potential approaches to graduate-level education and investigating the needs and expectations of both internal and external stakeholders. The study employed a mixed methods research approach through online questionnaires, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis.

The findings reveal that stakeholders expect the program to develop knowledge and competencies that correspond to the contemporary context of public administration and modern organizations increasingly driven by data, technology, and network-based governance. Particular emphasis was placed on digital governance, evidence-based policy, data analytics, and the critical and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI), alongside competencies in critical thinking, communication, organizational conflict management, and adaptability in rapidly changing environments. Above all, stakeholders strongly emphasized the need for the curriculum to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application through experiential learning, project-based learning, and learning from real-world situations. In addition, the study highlights the importance of developing transparent, fair, and flexible curriculum administration and student support systems. Consequently, the findings led to the formulation of a new identity for “Singha Kheaw” KU MAPS under the concept of praxis or practical political science, which aims to cultivate graduates capable of integrating political science knowledge with management, policy analysis, and public problem-solving within increasingly complex and rapidly changing global contexts. At the same time, the program seeks to foster ethical responsibility, social accountability, and lifelong learning capacities, which are regarded as essential characteristics of political science graduates in the twenty-first century.
