Political Conflicts and Political Participation of People Affecting Political Development in Northeastern Area of Thailand

Abstract
This study aimed to (1) find a level of political conflicts, political participation, and political development according to people’s perception in northeastern area of Thailand, (2) compare the average people’s attitude with different backgrounds affecting political conflicts, political participation, and political development in the area, and (3) create a relationship model between political conflicts, political participation, and political development by using Multiple Regression Analysis. This study was conduct quantitatively with
a total of 400 sample representatives living in the area, chosen by Multi Stage Random Sampling. Survey questionnaires with five rating scale, Reliability at 0.98, were used for data collection. The statistics used were Frequency, Percentage, Mean (), Standard Deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Product
Moment Coefficient of Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis, and
application programs were applied for data analysis. Findings found in the study were revealed as follows
1. People’s attitudes towards the three perspectives were presented in the high level such as political development ( X_= 3.98), political conflicts
( X_ = 3.96), and political participation ( X_ = 3.58), respectively.
2. The samples with different genders expressed different attitudes towards the political conflicts, the statistical significance at 0.05. However, the samples with different ages showed different opinions about political participation, the statistical significance at 0.01. Additionally, the samples with different educational backgrounds and occupations held their different opinions towards the three perspectives, the statistical significance at 0.01.
3. It was found that political conflicts and political participation among people significantly affect political development in the northeastern area
of Thailand, the statistical significance at 0.01.
