Abstract
การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาปรัชญา วิสัยทัศน์ พันธกิจ และเป้าหมายของมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏ และ 2) ศึกษาบทบาทและความสำคัญของห้องสมุดในการสนับสนุนวิสัยทัศน์ พันธกิจ และเป้าหมายของมหาวิทยาลัย การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้ดำเนินการในมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏ 6 แห่งที่ตั้งอยู่ในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทย โดยมีมหาวิทยาลัย 3 แห่งจากภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบน และ 3 แห่งจากภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่าง ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักประกอบด้วยผู้บริหารมหาวิทยาลัย 18 คน และบรรณารักษ์ 18 คน คัดเลือกโดยการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง
ผลการวิจัยพบว่ามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏเป็นการศึกษาระดับอุดมศึกษาเพื่อการพัฒนาท้องถิ่น เป็นแหล่งพัฒนาบัณฑิตให้มีความรู้และมีคุณธรรม เป็นศูนย์กลางบริการวิชาการแก่ประชาชนในท้องถิ่น บทบาทและความสำคัญของห้องสมุดในมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏคือการขับเคลื่อนวิสัยทัศน์และพันธกิจของมหาวิทยาลัย นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นแหล่งวิจัยและห้องเรียนในกระบวนการจัดการเรียนการสอนของคณะอีกด้วย เป็นแหล่งและแหล่งเรียนรู้สำหรับนักวิจัยในการพัฒนาคุณภาพงานวิจัย เป็นแหล่งการเรียนการสอนสำหรับคณะ นักศึกษา และประชาชนทั่วไป และเป็นแหล่งข้อมูลสนับสนุนคณะเพื่อการบริการวิชาการ นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นแหล่งอนุรักษ์และเผยแพร่ศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมของมหาวิทยาลัยและท้องถิ่นอีกด้วย
