A Study of Natural Light Aperture Development for Studio Art Renovation
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to develop a natural light aperture for using natural light in the studio art which is in the Visual Art Program building, Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University as a case study and to be used as a representative for other similar visual art buildings can be applied by designing the aperture with light shelves to protect light into the building. A computer program was used to simulate the sun position in designing direct light protection. The aperture with light shelves are divided into two types which are on the top and beside the building separated into two directions. There are four models: model 1 upper-northern light aperture, model 2 upper-southern light aperture, model 3 beside-northern light aperture and model 4 beside-southern light aperture. This research establishes the physical characteristics of the building. All sizes of the aperture are calculated to compare and construct the model at 1:20 scale to be tested in the real sky condition during 4 to 8 of February and to measure the luminosity every 5 minutes. Then, the analytical result of the illumination uniformity is proportional to the average of the room illumination.
