Knowledge and Attitude toward Mental Health Promotion for Elderly with Lanna Folk Ritual in Saluang Sub district Administrative Organization, Mae Rim District , Chiang Mai Province

Abstract
The mixed-method research was to study the knowledge, attitude and factors predicting towards mental health promotion for the elderly with Lanna folk ritual.The sample of this research was 236 households and 20 stakeholder who lived in the area of Saluang Subdistrict Administative Organization, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. Data were collected by questionnaire, informal interviews and focus group discussions. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, simple linear regression analysis and content analysis. The results indicated that the knowledge were on the good level (89.01%) . Attitude were on the high level (mean = 2.64). Family members and knowledge of Lanna mental health promotion of the elder were significantly associated with attitude on Lanna mental health promotion of the elder (p – value 0.000 and 0.000, respectively). However, Lanna folk rituals also reflect the alternative to mental health of people under community norms, beliefs and resources.
