The Study on the Enterpreneur’s Demands for Alien Workers Employment in the ASEAN community

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the demand for foreign workers to enter the ASEAN Community as well as factors affecting the employment of foreign workers in Mueang district, Ubon Ratchathani province.  The sample included 365 entrepreneurs in private sector including those who own a partnership and a company.  Data were collected through a questionnaire. Data were analyzed through statistics including percentage, mean and standard deviation.


The results of this study were found that the majority of the sample had the following nature: being Limited Companies, operating export business, having 51-100 workers, having 1-10 million baht in registered capital, having 6-10 years in business experience, having no foreign partners. The respondents expected to hire more foreign workers after the ASEAN Community (by 2015) and demand more foreign workers to compensate the absence and inadequacy of current foreign workers. They demand foreign workers  aged 18-25 years. They paid below 10,000 baht per month for foreign workers.  They prefered hiring male foreign workers to females. Moreover, overall the respondents’ opinions towards foreign workers’ personality were at moderate level. Considering each aspect, the respondents needed three main types of foreign workers’personality including discipline, work experience and honesty
