Abstract

In term of education, critical thinking refers to the ability to think clearly and rationally, and to understand the logical connection among ideas. Particularly, learner should be able to find necessary information and consider the correlative information in order to complete a specific task. In English class, a skill of critical thinking is the way that learner can decompose texts, and in turn, improve their ability to comprehend its meaning. In this paper, how to facilitate the development of critical thinking skills in a Communicative Language Teaching English class will be presented. Regarding the principle of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the English learning activity begins with remembering in a presentation step, understanding and applying in a practice step, analyzing in a production step, evaluating the reason, and creating new things, respectively. To the end, a series of learning activities will be proposed to illustrate how to promote the students’ critical thinking effectively in elementary school English.
