Participation of Ethnic group in Forest Fire Prevention, Lan Sang National Park, Tak Province

Abstract

        The objectives of this research were to socio-economic characteristics, levels of participation and factors affecting participation of ethnic group in forest fire prevention, Lan Sang National Park, Tak Province. Data collected during May 2021 to July 2021 by interviewing household heads or representatives 318 persons. who were living surrounding Lan Sang National Park, Tak Province. There were notifying in 4 ethnic groups: (1) Hmong, (2) Lahu, (3) Lisu, and (4) Thai. This research consisted of participation in (1) study on problems, (2) planning, (3) practicing, and (4) monitoring. Statistical analysis methods employed for testing hypothesis were t-test and F-test with the given significant level at 0.05 and multiple comparison test by Scheffe method.

        The results revealed that participation of ethnic group in forest fire prevention, Lan Sang National Park, Tak Province had an average score 2.97 at a moderate level. Different ethnic group affecting participation in forest fire prevention statistically highly significant level at 0.01, there were different in participation level in forest fire prevention, the lowland thai at the most, Hmong, Lahu and Lisu respectively. Factors affecting participation in forest fire prevention, Lan Sang National Park, Tak Province were educational level, settlement period, familiarity with forest officer, social membership being ,  training being, having knowledge about forest fires and ethnic group.
