The Adaptation for the Security of Drought-Prone Community in Upper Chi Watershed

Abstract
Although many communities in Upper Chi watershed always experience the continued drought on a regular basis, but they can security-exist all along. So I have the questions; how do communities exist? And how they can adapt to security? Therefore, this research aims to study the adaptation for security of drought-prone communities in upper Chi watershed. The qualitative method was used in this research. Data were collected by in-depth interviews the 50 people, which is the key informants consist of community reader, local scholars, the chief executive of the Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO), group and network committees and the farmers who live in drought-prone community in the Upper Chi Watershed. They were interviewed in individual and group level.. The results show that the community has adapted to security on each dimensions follow; 1) Economic, change the crops and planting method, divide for works, change the careers, change the goal, change the technologies for produces, Hiring the Contractor and grouping for help but play the surplus 2) social, the adaptation processes of community are awareness, new activities fundamental, recovery the old activities, open the new communication channels and formulate the date of community’s social activities on the period the holiday 3) food, extending the more land for finding the food, feed the animals for food and buy the food from the markets. 4) Nature, formulating the land for usage and regulations.
