Speech Acts Usage in Songs of Jintara Poonlab R-Siam

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the use of speech acts in E-san country songs which were performed by Jintara Poonlab R-Siam. Speech acts in two E-san country songs, Jai Chum Tee Kam Chanod and Tao Ngoi were examined. Both were very popular. The study would be conducted on the lyrics from the Northeastern folk lyrics. In addition, meaning of sentences that speech acts occur was studied in E-san country songs according to Speech Act Condition. There were seven types of speech acts; Expressing Condolences, Request, Promises, Affirmations, Question, Negative Feelings and Referencing found the least.
