Publication Malpractice Statement

The Fine Arts Journal: Srinakharinwirot University (FAJSWU) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, editorial integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical principles and editorial best practices, including the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

FAJSWU maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward publication malpractice and unethical publishing practices. All parties involved in the publication process—including editors, reviewers, authors, and editorial staff—are expected to uphold the principles of academic honesty, intellectual responsibility, fairness, confidentiality, and research integrity throughout all stages of submission, peer review, publication, and post-publication management.

The journal is committed to ensuring that all published content contributes responsibly and ethically to scholarly knowledge in the fields of fine arts, performing arts, design, art education, cultural studies, and related interdisciplinary disciplines.

1. Plagiarism and Originality

All manuscripts submitted to FAJSWU must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authors are required to properly acknowledge and cite all sources, quotations, visual materials, artworks, musical notation, performance documentation, datasets, concepts, and scholarly contributions derived from the work of others.

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • plagiarism,
  • self-plagiarism,
  • unattributed reproduction of published materials,
  • duplicate publication,
  • redundant publication,
  • and unauthorized use of copyrighted materials.

All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or substantial overlap with previously published works may be rejected immediately or withdrawn from consideration.

If plagiarism or unethical overlap is identified after publication, the journal may issue corrections, retractions, or other editorial notices as appropriate.

2. Fabrication, Falsification, and Data Integrity

FAJSWU strictly prohibits the fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or selective misrepresentation of research data, visual evidence, documentation, citations, interviews, creative records, or research findings.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all data, interpretations, images, descriptions, analyses, and conclusions presented in submitted manuscripts are accurate, verifiable, and ethically obtained.

Any intentional attempt to mislead readers, reviewers, editors, or the scholarly community through inaccurate or manipulated information constitutes serious publication misconduct.

The journal reserves the right to request supporting materials, raw data, documentation, ethical approval records, consent forms, or additional evidence when necessary for editorial review or ethical investigation.

3. Multiple Submission and Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal, publisher, conference proceeding, or editorial platform.

Manuscripts that substantially overlap with previously published or concurrently submitted works without appropriate disclosure are considered unethical.

If a manuscript is derived from a thesis, conference presentation, exhibition catalogue, performance program, creative project, or previously circulated material, authors must clearly disclose this information at the time of submission.

The journal expects all submitted work to demonstrate substantial scholarly originality and meaningful academic contribution beyond any earlier version.

4. Authorship and Contributor Responsibility

Authorship must accurately reflect the intellectual contributions of all individuals involved in the research and writing process.

All listed authors must:

  • have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work,
  • approve the final version of the manuscript,
  • and agree to its submission and publication.

The journal does not permit:

  • ghost authorship,
  • guest authorship,
  • honorary authorship,
  • or misrepresentation of contribution.

Any authorship disputes must be resolved before manuscript submission. Authors are responsible for providing accurate and complete information regarding authorship, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding sources, and contributor roles.

5. Peer Review Integrity

FAJSWU is committed to preserving the integrity, confidentiality, fairness, and independence of the peer review process.

The journal strictly prohibits any attempt to manipulate peer review, including:

  • submitting false reviewer identities,
  • providing fabricated reviewer contact information,
  • coercing reviewers,
  • influencing reviewer decisions improperly,
  • or interfering with editorial independence.

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, professionally, and without conflicts of interest.

Any breach of peer review ethics may result in rejection of the manuscript, removal from the reviewer database, institutional notification, or additional editorial action as appropriate.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, collaborative, or personal relationships that may influence—or reasonably appear to influence—the objectivity of the research, editorial evaluation, or publication process.

Potential conflicts of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • research funding,
  • sponsorship,
  • paid consultancy,
  • advisory roles,
  • institutional affiliations,
  • collaborative relationships,
  • or personal relationships connected to the submitted work.

Undisclosed conflicts of interest may constitute ethical misconduct and may result in editorial action.

7. Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants must comply with relevant institutional regulations, ethical standards, and applicable national or international guidelines.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research has been conducted with appropriate ethical consideration, professional responsibility, and sound scholarly judgment, particularly in studies involving human participants, communities, performers, interviews, observations, visual documentation, or practice-based research.

Although FAJSWU does not require authors to submit ethics approval documents or institutional review certification as part of the standard submission process, authors are expected to uphold rigorous ethical standards and exercise strict ethical responsibility regarding the conduct, documentation, interpretation, and dissemination of their research.

Special consideration must be given to:

  • minors,
  • vulnerable participants,
  • community-based research,
  • culturally sensitive materials,
  • identifiable performers,
  • interviews,
  • photographs,
  • video documentation,
  • and practice-based or performance-based research involving human participants.

If ethical violations, research misconduct, participant complaints, or credible concerns related to human research ethics are identified before or after publication, the journal reserves the right to investigate the matter in accordance with its editorial and ethical policies. Such cases may result in editorial actions including manuscript rejection, publication correction, expression of concern, or article retraction.

Failure to comply with ethical standards concerning research involving human participants may constitute a serious breach of publication ethics and research integrity.

8. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

FAJSWU requires transparency regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation.

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools when such technologies have been used for:

  • writing assistance,
  • language editing,
  • translation,
  • image generation,
  • data analysis,
  • coding,
  • or other forms of content generation.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, ethical integrity, or accountability of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including material generated or modified using AI-assisted technologies.

Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished materials into generative AI systems or external platforms that may compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, or data security.

9. Retractions, Corrections, and Editorial Actions

FAJSWU is committed to maintaining the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record.

When significant errors, ethical concerns, or evidence of publication misconduct are identified before or after publication, the journal may take appropriate editorial action, including:

  • manuscript rejection,
  • publication correction,
  • editorial clarification,
  • expression of concern,
  • article withdrawal,
  • or retraction.

Editorial decisions regarding corrections or retractions are made in accordance with internationally recognized ethical standards and established editorial procedures.

Retractions may occur in cases involving:

  • plagiarism,
  • fabricated or falsified data,
  • duplicate publication,
  • unethical research practices,
  • authorship misconduct,
  • or other serious violations of publication ethics.

10. Reporting Ethical Concerns and Misconduct

FAJSWU encourages authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to report suspected ethical violations, research misconduct, or concerns regarding published materials.

All allegations of misconduct will be reviewed carefully, confidentially, fairly, and in accordance with established editorial and ethical procedures.

Where appropriate, the journal may contact authors, reviewers, institutions, funding agencies, or relevant authorities as part of an ethical investigation.

The journal remains committed to protecting the integrity of scholarly publishing and maintaining the trust of authors, reviewers, readers, and the broader academic community.
