ROYAL KHON THE PROCESS OF PERFORMING ARTS CREATIVITY UNDER THE KING’S PHILOSOPHY

Abstract

The propose of this academic article is to study the concept and the process of performing arts creativity under the King’s Philosophy which are Understand, Achieve and Develop the concept of performing “Royal Khon”. The data were collected form articles, books and online media and analyzed in accordance with the King’s Philosophy.

The results show that the Thai dramatic arts of The Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Technique of Her Majesty the Queen Mother of Thailand was developed from various types of Khon (Thai masked dance), viz., Khon Klang Plaeng, Khon Chak and Khon Chak Rok. It has been performing from 2552 B.C. to 2562 B.C. total 8 episodes. The design pattern of Royal Khon were created in the process of creative and performing arts which enhanced and improve continuously in accordance with the king’s philosophy of “Understand, Achieve, and Develop”. The learning and thinking based on understanding and achieving the information of arts for creativity as well as developing knowledge and technics in Royal Khon performance which is light, color, technic, make-up and costume. These components are combined to create the form of performance which is not limited to only one perspective but integrated and applied the arts of entertaining.
