The The use of Methaphors in Hlaungtamahabau Ñaṇasampanno

Abstract

The objective of this research articles was to classify the metaphors in Hluangtamahabua Ñaṇasampanno’s speeches and the use of metaphors in Hluangtamahabua Ñaṇasampanno’s speeches. Metaphors studied were under the categories Figures of Speech, Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive semantics approach in which were found in 135 metaphors.

          The results of the metaphors classification were under the Figures of Speech, Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive semantics approach as divided into 3 types: 1. Metaphors under the Figures of Speech approach were found in 24 metaphors. 2.Metaphors under the Cognitive Linguistics approach were found in 51 metaphors which could be divided into 9 types: war, business, industry, people, sport, clean, prison, construction and action metaphors. 3.Metaphors under the Cognitive semantics approach were found in 60 metaphors and could be divided into 9 types: nature, music, people, material, weapon, politics, action, prison and abstract metaphors.

           The results of the use metaphors in Hluangtamahabua Ñaṇasampanno’s speeches  under the Figures of Speech, Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive semantics approach were: 1. Using metaphors under the Figures of Speech approach which were found in 3 forms: nature, property and duty. 2. Using metaphors under the Cognitive Linguistics approach were found in 2 forms: action and results of action. 3. Using metaphors under the Cognitive semantics approach were found in 2 forms: nature and warning.
