The Development Reading Comprehension Abilities in Thai Language of Grade 2 Students at Ban Phutsa School Through 5W1H Techniques

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop reading comprehension Abilities in the Thai language among Grade 2 students before and after learning through the 5W1H technique, 2) to compare the reading comprehension abilities in the Thai language among Grade 2 students after learning through the 5W1H technique with a criterion of 70%, and 3) to study the satisfaction among Grade 2 students towards learning reading comprehension in the Thai language through the 5W1H technique. The sample group comprised 21 Grade 2 students from Ban Phutsa School, Nakhon Ratchasima Primary Educational Service Area Office 7. The research tools included: 1) five lesson plans for reading comprehension using the 5W1H technique, 2) a 30-item multiple-choice reading comprehension ability test, 3) a satisfaction survey. Statistical analysis involved data analysis were percentages, standard deviations, t-test dependent.

           The research findings were as follows: 1) Reading comprehension abilities in the Thai language among Grade 2 students before and after learning through the 5W1H technique, it was found that students' abilities in reading comprehension increased significantly after learning through the 5W1H technique. The statistical significance level was 0.05 2) Reading comprehension abilities in the Thai language after learning through the 5W1H technique compared with the criterion of 70%, it was observed that after learning through the 5W1H technique were significantly higher than the 70% criterion. The statistical significance level was 0.05 3) Students' satisfaction towards learning reading comprehension in the Thai language through the 5W1H technique, it was found that overall satisfaction was at the highest level. The mean satisfaction score was 4.79, with a standard deviation of 0.4.
