Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the causes of teenage pregnancy in Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province and 2) to solve teenage pregnancy problems in Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province. The participants selected by purposive sampling consisted of three groups: 1) three public health officers and social workers, five parents, and ten pregnant teenagers aged between 12-19 years old. The instrument used was an in-depth interview. The data collected were analyzed using content analysis. The results revealed that: 1. The causes of teenage pregnancy in Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province were as follows: lack of love, warmth and family relationships, separated parents, lack of child care, inattention to class, unrealization of the importance of unwanted pregnancy, teenagers' values about love and spouses, having premarital sex, media values, and unreadiness for family responsibility. 2. The solutions of teenage pregnancy problems in Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province were as follows: 1) Family members have to take care of and give advice to their children, 2) Educational institutions should offer sex education to teenagers, 3) Government agency should launch a campaign for preventing and solving teenage pregnancy problems, and 4) The encouragement from other persons around pregnant teenagers as well as opportunities should be particularly provided.
