A Study of Tourism Development from Agricultural community in study area Bungkasam Community, Nongsua District, Pathum Thani Province

Abstract

Circumstances of losing agricultural land to urban expansion have been considered as one of the main problems Thailand is currently facing. Preserving cultural diversity and making agrarian society develop along with urbanization together would create a mutualistic society that can undoubtedly lead to a sustainable development.

This study is based on a research suvey on tourism resources, in order to present a potential of tourism development for Bung Ka Sam, an agricultural community, which is a part of Thung Luang Rangsit, Pathum Thani Province. The study discovers that the community is currently affected by rapid urban expansion. So as to solve the problem, making the community become a tourism community that corresponds soundly to its social context would in one way be helping handle the problem as well as preserving the true nature of agricultural community. This study will be analyzing strengths and weaknesses and determining the potential components of tourism in the area.

The results of the study showed that tourism development in the agricultural community was related to the people’s ways of life. The development of tourism would 1) maintain a unique identity of the area. 2) potentially attract tourists to the tourist attraction - and shape tourism trend in the area. 3) build the confidence measures for tourist destination choice and the community itself.
