THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONSERVATIVE GROUPS IN THE ANTI-THAKSIN MOVEMENT

Abstract

          The objectives of the research article were to study the origins of conservative groups in the anti-Thaksin movement and the development of conservative groups in the anti-Thaksin movement (2005 - 2014). This research used a qualitative research method and collected data from document research, related studies, and in-depth interviews with the leaders and the masses involved in 8 people, using the social movement frameworks: resource mobilization; political opportunity structure; and framing process theories as a fundamental tool.

         The studies found that: 1. the conservative groups in the anti-Thaksin movement were a gathering of Santi Asoke and senior military officers. 2. The conservative groups in the anti-Thaksin movement have developed their ideology and movement in a dynamic manner: rise and fall. They struggled to separate from the PAD movement in 2008. However, before 2013, they once again cooperated with other groups and decided to join the main anti-Thaksin movement in 2013-2014 under the PDRC as a lead organization.
